Q: When can I start investing?

A: We plan to be launched and have investment opportunities available by early 2009. Register and we will keep you posted with our progress!

Q: What exactly am I investing in?

A: You are investing directly in developing country SMEs. IWB originates loans to viable SMEs and you purchase a slice of the loan commitment (the SME contract with IWB to repay the loan).

Q: What type of return can I earn on investments through IWB?

A: The interest rate on loan requests is determined by the IWB lender community. Each lender bids a rate they are willing to receive on a particular loan in an online auction process. Those bidding the lowest rates are the “winners” of the auction. Each SME agrees to a ceiling interest rate before their loan request is posted – bids cannot exceed this ceiling.

Q: Am I assured that I will get my money back with my desired return?

A: Loans to SMEs through IWB are non-guaranteed. There is a risk that one or more of the loans you fund will not be repaid in part or in full. However, the IWB team is dedicated to delivering solid investment opportunities and high repayment rates to the IWB lender community and numerous measures are in place to mitigate the risk of default and fraud.
